Mixed-Media piece - Acrylics and stencil graffiti on canvas
DELIRIUM
Throughout my life, I have experienced a plethora of surgeries that have resulted traumatic experiences that have been embedded in my memories creating inevitable nightmares. I was able to portray my silenced feelings by layering mediums to convey the paces of my nightmares. The choice of colors reflect these powerful moments as I convey the different stages of one's trauma. I strive that people could relate to the same cycles of torment caused by distressing events. The elements in my art piece consist of my self portraits. They are arranged in a circle which balances the piece. This circle of faces can also be analyzed as an infinite course of thoughts that become part of my reality. Layering allowed me to build surface texture to my piece and illustrate my face in different ways. Putting many things in action all in one art piece, relates and connects to the crowded nightmares in my mind.

CLOWN FACES
After waking up under anesthesia in a hospital bed, I still remember the image of my parents as clowns smiling down at me when I was 3 years old. This piece communicates a captured moment where familiar faces changed in a strange way. The act of my parents smiling in joy is contrasted with the feeling I had when seeing them differently. My choice of using this textured medium, the color blue, and the representation of clown faces in my own way, all support the emotions that carried this memory.

 MY SPECTATORS
A piece that illustrates my imagination always working and being there. As if it's part of spectator seats in a movie theatre, where I am the movie. The elements in this piece like the flower, the scribbles and the choice of colors, all were added without much thought as I wanted this piece to have a random feel, as thoughts are random. The detailed seats however along with the size of the canvas was specifically chosen to accompany my intention.

HELL SEAT
I want people to be able to relate to the moments when we are in our everyday object: the bed. I intend to show how the minute we fall asleep, we dive into a cycle of thoughts that consequently traps us into our minds. I will be creating a three-dimensional bed that is made of sharp materials which will communicate the idea of a place where worries, anxiety and thoughts eat us up. This 3D piece can be identified as a conceptual piece as it opens interpretations by its context. One can see the object as a bed or as something else.
